You will be able to negotiate the price pretty easily as no private seller likes to hold on to a car for a long time so they will normally accept a knocked down price. Buying privately you will be able to see what the owner is like whether you think he has looked after the car or whether its been used and abused and this to me is very important as any car looks good after a wash and a polish!
Private cars for sale however don’t come with any type of warranty and is sold as seen which basically means you take the car as you find it. This is a bit scary if you have no idea about cars however there are services out there that will give you advice and will look at the car with you. I personally like car auctions as there is the thrill involved with bidding and winning and you get the cars exceptionally cheap. If you don’t know a mechanic to come and look at the car with you phone the AA or the RAC up as they offer a really good service for not a great deal of money.
